A Year with the BC Early Learning Framework
Frog Hollow Learning Centre is grateful to the ECE Professional Development Bursary Fund for funding three years of our series "A Year with BCELF."
This 9-month series included 2 in-person sessions with educators in their communities, and several evening sessions over Zoom, as well as a tour of Frog Hollow Children's Programs in Vancouver.
We have had the opportunity to share learning with educators from the following communities:
- Shuswap and Vernon
- Nanaimo and Parksville
- Prince Rupert, Terrace and Smithers
- Quesnel
- Penticton
- Trail, Boundary, and Castlegar
- Sooke
- Port Hardy
- Peace River (Fort St. John and Fort Nelson)
- Cariboo and Chilcotin
We are grateful for the relationships we have developed with Child Care Resource and Referral Centres, who helped to make this series possible. We hope to continue to offer this series in the years to come. If you are interested in bringing this series to your community, please get in touch with your local CCRR.
Who is this for? Educators and teachers working with children 0–8 years old, StrongStart facilitators, District Principals, Infant Development Consultants, and Supported Child Development Consultants.
Why this program? Instead of going through the BCELF page by page, this program focusses on the main ideas presented in the framework and engages the participants with lived experiences and hands-on activities that will support their learnings with these ideas. The program involves ongoing critical reflection and helps educators bring BCELF concepts to everyday life in practical ways. The mixture of in-person and online class formats makes this program accessible for working professionals.
