Workshop: Engaging Families in Emergent Curriculum - Stories from Hilltop Educator Institute.

On the evening of February 21st, join us for a rich evening of stories, reflecting and learning with Sarah Felstiner of Hilltop Children’s Centre. This workshop is a great way to learn about ways to engage families in emergent curriculum.

Educators in Reggio Emilia, Italy have described the school as a "three-legged stool" made up of children, families, and educators...if one of the pieces is missing, the whole thing falls down! So how can we encourage families to become meaningfully engaged in our programs, and in studying their children's learning?

By designing a year-round plan for partnership, supported by pedagogical narration, we can invite families to participate in curriculum planning, documentation, and assessment. Using examples from Hilltop Children's Center in Seattle, this discussion will offer possible models for authentic collaboration between families and educators.
